When it comes to the world of Bowman we know that the only thing that gets people buzzing as much as power is being young. There are currently 15 non-debuted hitting prospects with a base 1st autograph that sells for more than $100 on average. From that group, 14 of the 15 are age 21 or younger with the only exception being Aiva Arquette who just came out of a brand new product. Once you hit a certain age your chances of being a top name in Bowman go down pretty quickly. Some prospects are pumped up from day one, and that’s why 7 of the top 12 most expensive hitters today are still teenagers. There is a laundry list of players who are 23, 24, even 25 that have been very productive minor league hitters and although the stats and my rankings will say they’re a buy sometimes we have to accept that if the market was going to catch on to them they would have already.

What creates the best chance for exponential growth is finding players that may not have broken out yet but are young enough that they still have a year or two to do so before the Bowman people deem them to be too old. That’s why I updated prices this morning, put them into the new v2.0 Bowman rankings, and pulled out any teenage prospects with a base autograph at $20 or less who had a buy rating of 3.5/5.0 or higher. Since many of you may be willing to spend more or want to look at some other options I will also add two bonus lists at the bottom. One will be teenage prospects rated 4.0/5.0 or higher who are already over $20 for those of you who don’t mind spending, and another of players who are under $20 but are age 20 making them too old for the list but still plenty young enough to break out. The last time I did a “High Upside Buys Under $20” article it featured Devin Fitz-Gerald, Jhonny Level, Nathan Flewelling, and John Gil to name a few. Let’s see if we can’t find some big winners again.
