Even with all of the advanced data that goes into my Bowman Prospect Rankings, at the end of the day you need these numbers to actually show up to be able to climb the rankings. The only issue with that is that when you play extremely well everyone knows it, which makes buying these players at a cheap entry point while they’re in the midst of a breakout pretty tough. Which begs the question, what if we could get there before they start playing well? Pretty tough assignment since none of us have a crystal ball, but I do think there are certain numbers you can look at in the advanced statistics of prospects that will point towards positive regression. What I’ve done is combed through all of these and found the non-debuted hitting prospects with Bowman autographs who I feel have the best chance to break out in the second half of the minor league season.
