As of this past Monday we officially have a 2026 Bowman Chrome checklist which they so kindly gave to us shortly before pre-orders opened. Doing these early PYT articles before anybody has pricing out is always fun for me because it’s a bit of a guessing game, and while players will move around a little bit between now and when I drop my actual chase rankings, the tiers that I’ve put guys in shouldn’t change a ton. In past releases I’ve messed with trying to assign a point value to insert autos, SP inserts, etc. because in reality some of those do sell really well including the Garbage Pail Kids which will make a return in 2026 Bowman Chrome. What I’ve found though is it’s kind of impossible to use them in my PYT rankings because a number of factors including what they’ll sell for, how often they’ll come out, and so on aren’t things I can really assign a point value to. And realistically if you’re looking for a GPK or specific insert auto that you want to collect then that’s probably something you should be buying singles of not trying to hit in breaks by buying the team. Just my two cents.

Since you could open cases without seeing some of these SP subsets predicting them is tough, but what we do will come out is autographs. Again, insert autos are something if you hit by mistake in a break it’s a nice surprise but you shouldn’t be buying teams trying to hit an insert auto. You’re looking for 1st Autographs mainly but there are some pretty nice names on the Chrome Prospect Autograph checklist who are getting their 2nd auto. Depending on how big of a name they are those will sell for more than many of the no-name 1sts. Along with those you have the Rookie Autographs which are much tougher pulls of course than 1st autos but there are some huge names on that checklist this year. Because of the players in this set with Rookie Autographs that is something I will factor into my PYT rankings, but their point values are lowered by the fact that you’re not going to see nearly as many of them. As I said, all I’m doing is making my absolute best guess what certain players will sell for and how often we should expect to see them. After diving into those two autograph checklists (Chrome Prospect Autographs, Rookie Autographs) this is how I’d rank teams in terms of how much I’d want them in a PYT break of 2026 Bowman Chrome.

Scoring System

  • 1st Autograph Hitters

    • Tier 1 - 250 points

    • Tier 2 - 125 points

    • Tier 3 - 75 points

    • Tier 4 - 50 points

    • Tier 5 - 25 points

    • All others - 10 points

  • 1st Autograph Pitchers

    • Tier 2 - 50 points

    • Tier 3 - 25 points

    • Tier 4 - 15 points

    • Tier 5 - 10 points

    • All others - 5 points

  • Rookie Autos & Non-1st Prospect Autos

    • Varies based on collectability of players

    • Remember some of these will be big $ sellers but are very hard to pull, so paying to chase them in breaks is tough and that’s taken into consideration on the point value

  1. Los Angeles Angels - 35 points

  • Talon Haley 1st Autos (Tier 4 Pitcher) - +15 points

  • Jeyson Horton 1st Autos - +10 points

  • Samy Natera Jr. 1st Autos - +5 points
