There was some decent movement today as I implemented the end of season statistics for all of our pitching prospects. While the trend down in the singles market has been big for hitters it’s nothing compared to our pitchers. In order to bring balance to the expected values today I had to take 35% off what they were during the first half of the minor league season. I think in general it was a tough year for pitchers. Not only did they have to deal with the juiced baseballs but we were spoiled last year with great big league debuts by Tolle, Yesavage, Tong, McLean, Schlittler, etc. etc. Watching pitching prospects deal when they come up and having their prices go through the roof is why we do this and in all honesty the MLB debuts for pitching prospects this year were all kind of blah. But we’re on to 2027 now and hopefully it will be a better year in terms of pitching prospects generating excitement in the hobby. What this means for buying opportunities is that if there’s a pitcher in today’s rankings that the formula likes as a buy, I’d consider them on the short list of players to stash this offseason. Your expected value has to be more than 100% higher than your autograph price to get a 5.0/5.0 so if your target has been dropped by 35% to reflect the offseason dip in prices and you’re STILL rated that high, that’s pretty elite value going into next season.
