Bowman Prospect Rankings - Top 200 Hitters

Since our last update for the top 200 hobby hitters many of our favorite prospects haven’t played a game, with the Single-A and High-A seasons concluding a couple weeks back. Due to that there aren’t many players making huge moves in the rankings because the performance portion of my rankings as well as statistical trends over the last 7 days haven’t changed for a lot of these guys. Once all minor league levels finish up I will knock off all the recency weights, do a full re-rank and put out what will be the end of season prospect rankings we will use to do our offseason buying. That will likely come two weeks from today. Until then, we make our usual performance-based changes to the rankings as well as update all of the base autograph prices to figure out who is being slept on most in the Bowman market.

I’ve talked about it in the past but in order to get to our Bowman market equilibrium I have to adjust the expected values based on the market cap as a whole. In the hitter rankings two weeks back we were at 90%, meaning I had to take 10% off the peak values that we saw around July in order for everything to be in balance. Today in order to achieve the same I had to remove another 12%, meaning that Bowman autograph prices as a whole are down about 22% now from where we saw them earlier in the year. That doesn’t sound great for our collections today but know that when I do our offseason Team Buy Sheets I use the in-season expected values because we’re buying in anticipation of what those prices will get to, so any player showing as a ‘Strong Buy’ today is likely going to be a player that I LOVE as a buy this winter when their target price resets.

4.5-4.9 - Strong Buy

4.0-4.4 - Buy

3.5-3.9 - Lean Buy

3.1-3.4 - Slightly Undervalued

3.0 - Spot on

2.5-2.9 - Slightly Overvalued

2.1-2.4 - Overvalued

2.0 - Very Overvalued
