How To: Buy the Dip

When we get to September the most common question that I’m asked is, “should I sell?”, but it’s tough to answer because every circumstance is different. The short answer though is yes, selling baseball cards prior to the season ending has proven to be a smart financial decision in the past. There’s a cycle of buying and selling that takes place in the hobby and you can usually bet that the quietest time for cards in any major sport is going to be when there aren’t games being played. While there are no set rules since everyone is free to do whatever they want with their money, I’ll give you my exceptions for players that are worth holding into the offseason and also when the sales data suggests is the best time to buy back the others.
