Surprise, we are doing pitcher hot sheets this year! As I was making yesterday’s sheet for hitters I wondered why we couldn’t do the same for pitchers. It’s a bit trickier since the hitters play nearly every day and the starting pitchers for the most part will only throw once in a week, but if anything I think that gives us an advantage. By the time a hitter has been on fire for a few weeks straight his card prices are likely to have already begun climbing, however with pitchers we often see the market take longer to adjust since they play less frequntly. Last year I had Thomas White (MIA) listed as a ‘Best Buy’ on seven consecutive pitcher articles without his base autograph price moving even a dollar. The public hype for pitchers seems to be much more delayed than hitters so I’ve decided that we will begin tracking them on a weekly basis to try and get ahead of that. Today is the first ever Bowman pitcher hot sheet.
