Welcome! For those of you who don’t know, I’m Bob. Over the past few years I have built a following on X (Twitter) by putting out MLB prospect content as it relates to the card hobby.

There are many incredible minds who rank prospects for the purpose of dynasty fantasy baseball, and a couple of my favorites will be featured here regularly. There are also tons of people like myself who buy Bowman cards as an investment. Here’s the crazy part, despite both of these industries growing exponentially, there has been little to no overlap of the two.

Until now.

I am hoping that I can help bridge the gap between the two industries. While my primary goal on Twitter has been to help those already in the hobby target players whose value I think will increase, the secondary goal is to actually grow the hobby itself. I know there are hardcore dynasty baseball players out there who haven’t even begun to think about cards. Hopefully I can show them how closely the two worlds align, and give them the advice they need to dip their toes into this card industry that I love.

My articles will be focused on minor league baseball players, specifically those with 1st Bowman cards. I’ll start with some articles on who I would buy prior to the 2025 season along with explanations why. The scouting reports that you’re used to but with a twist, assessing how the players’ individual skills relate to the card market. How much do their cards cost? Why? What drives the price of their cards? Most importantly, who should we be buying?

Most of these questions will be answered when I release my first version of the Hobby Ranks. While prospect rankings are a huge factor, I personally like to know who is living up to their hype. That is why a player’s Hobby Rank will be directly affected by their minor league production. I came up with a formula that takes into account their age, minor league level, and some of their advanced hitting metrics. Throughout the season I will update the Hobby Rank weekly, highlighting the biggest movers. Making money in the hobby is a very time-sensitive game. By the time Baseball America or MLB.com updates their prospect rankings, you’re late to the party and the hobby has already adjusted accordingly.

Weekly hot/cold lists will also be published highlighting which top prospects had the best and worst weeks. This will help find buying opportunities before the average person even has a chance to catch up on minor league news. Now, not all hot weeks signal buying, so I’ll be diving into some more advanced metrics to determine if it’s a fluke or a sign to buy some shares.

Who to buy, when to buy, what to buy, and perhaps most importantly, when to sell, will all be covered extensively. I am truly hoping to build a prospecting community, where all members can have an open discussion at all times, and hopefully make some money in the process. I will be available to answer any and all questions you may have so don’t be afraid to ask.
